Candle Stand, c.1810-1820 ATT: Unknown HOA: 29 1/4" WOA: 18 1/4” DOA: 20 3/4” Wood: Cherry Brief Description The octagonal top is made from one thick board. A double tapered thick cleat is secured to the top with screws. From below it is attached to the top of the pedestal with a double wedged square tenon. The pedestal has a scyma upper section and a capped and tapered urn above a straight plinth. Tapered concave legs resting on round feet are dovetailed to the base of the pedestal. The stand retains its original screws and finish on the base. The top has a repaired crack and a modern finish. |
