Overview
Classes are offered to individuals, dealers and institutions. Class dates can be arranged around
your schedule. We can also customize a class based on your personal interests or professional
needs.
Our small class size and hands-on demonstrations will expose you to the details as well as the
overall process on various subjects related to antique furniture, including 1) How is that furniture
made?, 2) How old is that furniture?, 3) The Art of Inlay I, 4) The Art of Inlay II, 5) What wood is
that?, 6) Microscopic Wood identification, and 7) Germanic Influence of Charleston Furniture.
Level I classes are designed for novices as well as individuals with limited knowledge of the
subject. Level II classes are the next step for the Level I participants or experienced professionals,
skilled craftsmen, and others with background in the field.
Study objects, demonstrations, hands-on examinations, group discussions as well as individual
question and answer sessions, and slide lectures are sure to increase your knowledge and
interest of antique furniture. Inlay making classes include all tools, woods, and materials, needed
for the class. Depending on your skill level, you should end the day with your own completed
inlay. Custom tailored group and individual lessons are available.
